Thoiry vs CCC
Posted by: webmaster on Thursday May 10, 2012 (16:49:21)
Chantilly’s second game of the season had the team travelling to Thoiry on this cool, damp, FA cup final afternoon. For those that wanted to watch the football later on, radio/iPhone silence was imposed for the duration.
Having heard of Rob Oakley’s inability to win the toss, Mark Moodley gave CCC the choice of bat or ball without use of a coin.
Chantilly, who only had 10 players along for the ride, took the bat first with traditional openers Sansbury and Pretsell and started steadily accumulating runs.
The rain of the previous weeks meant that the grass was thick and slow – there were no 3’s run today, and you had to hit the ball pretty firmly into a wide, open space in order to get 2. Those who could judge the bowling and the distance to the boundary could score more efficiently with 6’s. Pretsell hit a nice one over long on, but we had to wait for Thoiry’s innings to appreciate who had the better judgement.
The openers lasted until the 10th over when Pretsell was caught off Chance for 20. 2 overs later and Patrick Heard was walking back towards the trees – given out LBW by Pretsell, who was possibly still a bit miffed, but insisted that Heard was really, really out. Sansbury was caught off Indrajit’s first ball for Thoiry for a solid 19. Oakley Sn, Powell and Homer helped in the middle order, all getting into double figures, but not much further. Chantilly’s 3rd highest score came from Wides who had a fine innings of 18.
Jack Oakley helped CCC limp over the 100 barrier in the 29th over but Chantilly were all out for 119 in the 34th over, with some help from Nikhil Indrajit, kindly stepping in at no. 11.
So, not a particularly high score, but with the slowness of the outfield, one worth fighting over. more ...

French Open Tennis tickets
Posted by: webmaster on Tuesday May 08, 2012 (13:41:18)

Viagogo is the official ticket exchange for Rolande Garros and the French Open Tennis tournament. The tickets they sell are guaranteed, and sold at face value. They are even transferable if you have to change the name on the ticket! Tickets come and go all the time - ladies finals seem to have a good availability as well as the mixed doubles final. I have been visiting the page regularly and have just managed to get tickets for the men's final! Will we see you there?
Click here and select the Rolande Garros option.

CCC vs CCSB - The Winds of Change!
Posted by: webmaster on Monday April 30, 2012 (12:34:48)

Chantilly’s opening match of the 2012 season commenced in the traditional manner: St Brice turned up half an hour late, the wind howled a gale around the scorer’s table, and Rob lost the toss.
St Brice chose to bat, hoping this would give them the advantage on the new pitch. Eddie Hoyle opened the bowling for Chantilly and got straight down to business – at the end of the first over St Brice were 5 for 2. Madan and Vijay steadied things a bit for St Brice, putting together a partnership of 34 before Richardson clean-bowled Madan for 20. Then the Pretsell boys were brought into the action. Guest player Warren came away with figures of 3 overs for 13 runs and the nomination for loudest player of the year! Brother Lee kept up his personal tradition by bowling a no ball as his first ball. However, this was obviously a cunning ruse to lull St Brice into a false sense of security as, with the next-but-one ball, he took out Samir with a devious LBW and then went on to take 3 more wickets, ending with bowling figures of 4 for 18 off 4 overs. It should be noted however, that, of those 18, nine were extras! Ahem! New boy Kalim Fazal is given a special mention for taking two wickets, as is Oakley Junior who turned a dropped catch into a run out!
So, a great team effort, that included a catch by Nick Sansbury, meant that St Brice were bowled out after only 20 overs with a score of 99, leaving Chantilly needing a ton to win. more ...

CCC Season 2012 begins!
Posted by: webmaster on Saturday April 07, 2012 (12:43:50)
Chantilly Cricket Club was established some years ago and offers cricket for all leves, from youngsters to oldies, from experts to beginners. We average 10 games a season both at our own ground and away at some of the most beautiful pitches around. We have a core of 15 to 20 members but we are always looking for new people to join in.
CCC is open to all, whether you play regularly, or haven't played since leaving school, or even if you've never played before! We practice in Apremont on Friday nights (late April to October) with matches normally on a Sunday afternoon. It's a great game to play, and is great for spectators too who can enjoy meeting other enthusiasts and enjoy picnics around the pitch.
Should you wish to join this year, and for those continuing their membership please download the subsciption form from the downloads section of this website.
I do apologise for the delay in publishing the form . However, we didn’t want to send out information until we were absolutely certain that we would have a ground to play on.
We are delighted to confirm that we have agreed a deal with the Apremont Polo Club to construct a new wicket on a new pitch. This new pitch is being built this weekend, and will be available for play within the next 2 weeks. This means that we are now ready to accept this year’s membership, and we are equally delighted to tell you that we have maintained our membership fees at the same level as last year, that is 80€ for adults, 50€ for juniors, and match fees of 10€ per match.
We look forward to seeing you as we begin what will be an exciting new season on our new ground,
Best regards,
Denzil Homer more ...

ChantillyExpat.com Presents.... Cinderella - the evidence!
Posted by: webmaster on Monday March 19, 2012 (17:02:52)
I do hope those that came along to see our production enjoyed it. Everyone involved, both behind the scenes and on stage were really proud of what we achieved, and had a great amount of fun staging the show.
I've put up some photos taken at various stages throughout the show, with albums for the behind the scenes shots, for the rehearsals, and from the shows themselves. Please do take a look and relive the show.
I have produced a DVD of the show, taken on the Friday night. It's not a professional production by any stretch but just a recording of the whole show. If you would be interested in obtaining a copy, maybe because you missed it, or because you'd like to see it again, please email me at panto@chantillyexpat.com. more ...

Calling all British Citizens! Please visit this site and sign the petition. The UK Civil Aviation Authority is trying to go against all scientific advice in allowing airline pilots to fly longer and longer hours. Flying whilst tired is akin to flying when drunk - do you want to be flown by someone whilst they're feeling the same effects as being four times over the UK drink-drive limit? You don't need to be a UK resident, just a British citizen to be able to sign.
