Le Sylvia is a very popular bar/bistro located in the centre of Chantilly, near the traffic lights. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am to around 1am. Run by Christian and Anna it is a very popular place to go for both lunch and for the evening. Christian is most likely to be seen behind the bar and is famed for his handlebar moustache! Anna is swedish, so speaks english fluently and spends her time running around looking after everyone!
Indoors there are comfy chairs and a small leather sofa for having a quiet drink (except on the odd Friday when they have live music!), a bar area and plenty of tables for eating. They do have a small 'non-smoking' area but there is only room for about 5 or 6 small tables. The rest of the indoors can get pretty smoky.
There is a large cordoned off pavement area outside, wonderful in the summer as is gets the sun at lunchtime, although it is very inviting even in the cold weather if you can persuade Christian to light the heaters! Service can be a bit slower outdoors so make sure you catch the waitress when she is out there!
Food is typical bar/bistro fare - plenty of choice of salads, panini and a good number of sandwiches. The speciality is the 'Sylvia au Rosbif', a hearty sandwich filled with sliced roast beef, potatoes and topped with cheese. There is also a daily 'plat du jour', often a nice hearty stew or sometimes a steak. Prices range from around €6 up to €9.50 for the plat du jour.
For those who like beer there is a choice of 1664, Heineken, Chimay and often a beer of the month. The wine selection is pretty good too, by the carafe or bottle. For something different during the day pop in for a hot chocolate! Winter normally brings a vin chaud too..
All in all Le Sylvia is a great place to go at any time of day. Friday and Saturday nights are very popular, though don't expect to see it full until around 10pm! It is pretty much guaranteed full at lunchtime, get there early if you want a nice table outside. You might catch a group of english speakers in there on a Friday night if we are allowed out - you can identify us as Christian gets his pint glasses out for us!

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
