Comptes rendus | Local Restaurants | Festival
Revenir en haut Back to main Skip to menuThe Restaurant Festival in Lamorlaye has been taken over once again (third time in five years?) and is now run as a French restaurant with a modern flair. The inside hasn't really been updated for some years although the terrace outside has some new furniture and planters that do a good job of shielding the road noise.
Alain runs the tables with Mathias in the kitchen. This can mean that service is a little slow - but then what restaurant in France isn't?
The menu is fairly short, but there is a good lunch menu, a salad menu for a lighter meal and the fixed price menus offer a good selection. We enjoyed dishes from this fixed price menu which included a timable of mussels and avocado, a pan-fried réblochon and a tartare of tomato and basil. Presentation is superb - each dish like a miniature work of art!
For mains we enjoyed the Pavé of beef - served with roquefort sauce and a jacket potato. Whilst it looks like a small steak it is pretty filling, and cooked exactly as ordered! The pork ribs were flavourful and succulent whilst the chicken breast stuffed with mozarella served on a bed of risotto rice went down very well.
The wine list is fairly limited - but at €30 for a 2005 Bordeaux isn't going to break the bank.
Desserts are all too tempting - we managed to sample the tiramisu made with orange 'jaffa cakes', the creme brulée and the 'nems' of pear in a chocolate sauce!
The fixed menu comes in at €18 for two courses or €24 for three. Our meal for four, of 3 courses, wine and coffee was around €140, or €35 a head - pretty reasonable for a meal that is a cut above your run of the mill 'bistro' food. The menu does need to vary a bit more often or it could get boring but it would take quite a few visits to get through it!
Would be go back? We have and we will!
