  New road law
Local NewsFollowing on from our story here, did you know it is now a legal requirement to have both a warning triangle and a security gilet in your car in case of accident. Failure to have these in the car if stopped (or involved in an accident) will result in a fine of €135 (reduced to €90 if paid on time) for each item missing!

Did you also know that at the same time a new law came into being requiring cyclists to wear a safety gilet at any time outside an 'agglomération' during the night or when visibility is reduced during the day. The fine for non-compliance is €35 (reduced to €22).

  Speedferries goes bust
AnnouncementsIt looks like there is one less option for those wishing to drive back to the UK. Speedferries used to offer a fast crossing from Boulogne to Dover with ticket prices from just £24 per car. They have been running one fastcat ferry for the past few years and had planned to launch another. Unfortunately with the cost of fuel rising as it did and a lack of support from other companies they have gone into administration. Anyone who had bought their voucher book for multiple crossings will need to get in touch with their credit card company for a refund. Full details of the story can be found here.

The only alternatives from Boulogne / Calais that remain are Eurotunnel, P&O Ferries and Sea France.

  The English Language Montessori School
Local NewsIt is with great regret that we announce the closure of the English Language Montessori School (ELMS). Judith has worked very hard over the last 11 years to build up the school and she has achieved much of which she can be very proud. From personal experience I know that those children who passed through her school were able to learn a lot more than just maths and language. They were able to learn discipline and manners and above all respect, all of which came from Judith. That the school should be forced to close just when it seemed Judith had the premises and the staff to really grow is doubly sad.

As of the 2nd October the English Language Montessori School is closed permenantly.
