CCC AGM for 2008 season

Saturday 17th January 2009 saw the CCC AGM for the 2008 season take place at last - finally finding a date in diaries that most of the committee could attend. Attendance was good with most of the 'core' team there including a brace of Nicks (how come Nick the vic was late when he only lives upstairs?), a dose of Hedleys and a couple of Congreves for good measure.

With Tris standing in as secretary I'm not sure how the minutes of the AGM will look but we'll get them online for CCC member's perusal when they are published. Suffice to say that the agenda was covered, decisions were made and I think I can confidentally say that CCC will go from strength to strength over the coming year or two.

Following the AGM members' families were invited to join in for the more social aspect of the evening. There was some superb catering provided (why can't teas contain more curries?) including some cracking home-made pizzas from Jack, Nicks 'twice burned' veg curry and some great home made puds. Denzil thought to provide some 'John Smiths' for that authentic British flavour and there were many empty wine bottles by the end of the evening.

The highlight of course was the Prize Giving Ceremony, organised once again by the Oakleys. Quite where Sue gets the time to be a head teacher on top of her cricket scoring and speech writing duties is beyond me! The list of winners is shown below - highlights including a tough battle for the 'Best Injury' award as well as the close-run contest each year that is the '2nd Best Nick' award (we have how many Nicks now? 6?).

Thanks must go once again to Sue and Rob for a great evening (and another good year for the club), to the committee for getting us to where we are now as well as to the Church for the loan of the hall for the evening. Isn't this the point where I'm supposed to issue a rising cry of the club's latin motto? Ad maioribus numerus quod infractus bones maybe?

You'll see some photos from the evening with this news article - apologies for the quality but to get a better photo would have involved moving place, and my wine was just there in front of me...
