A huge smile to announce that our first objective has been achieved. We have now received additional donations which allow us to ensure that we can distribute a minimum of 10 000 Euros to our two beneficiaires, Fondation ARC and GAP. But don't be surprised to find the thermometer on the fundraising page changed. There are still 2 weeks to go before we set up on our venture, and we need to be aiming higher.
It's now becoming crunch time : we've received our shirts (we'll be sending photos to our sponsors), we have our final team briefing, and the final logistical details will be resolved.
Now all we need to do is keep our training up and hope for a wind to blow in the right direction...
There's still time to give....

CCC vs Aulnay - Catches Win Matches
Posted by: webmaster on Sunday June 09, 2013 (13:51:13)
Having won 4 of the first 5 matches for 2013, the Chantilly Cricket Team couldn’t be blamed for entering this game against Aulnay with confidence levels high. A rumour that their opposition played in the competitive league, and that they had brought their best team to Apremont, failed to dent the early enthusiasm of the CCC players. Would their new found confidence be misguided, or have they truly started making some progress this year. Read on to find out….
Chantilly batted first on a glorious afternoon, which quickly became significantly less glorious as the first 3 wickets fell with only 12 runs on the board. Oakley, Prana, and Pretsell all leaving in single figures (is 0 a single figure?)
Talk of an emergency phone call to Jo, to get the cakes out of the oven early were put on hold however, as Hoyle and Clarke steadied the ship. Both batsmen displayed sound technique and plenty of patience, as they chipped away at the task of building a respectable total. Unfortunately, with the score on a healthy 44, the steady ship hit rocky ground in the form of a run out; Clarke getting stranded mid-pitch, and just a few balls later, Hoyle was bowled, which sent most of the following batsmen looking for their life jackets.
The rest of the Chantilly batsmen tried their best, with Shaban showing some real class in getting to 20, aided by some solid support from Jean-Francois, but with eight batsmen not reaching double figures, Chantilly were always going to struggle to reach 100, finishing with a modest 82 all out off 27 overs. more ...

Thoiry vs CCC
Posted by: webmaster on Tuesday May 28, 2013 (11:07:24)
Chantilly’s start to 2013 has been as successful as anyone can remember and so it was with a fair slice of hope and confidence that we headed south to face Thoiry. Earlier in the week the forecast has been horrible but the clouds had cleared and the afternoon ended up dry and relatively bright.
Jimmy was taking the week off, but Eddy was back, and we welcomed Prana Pavitra to the side, who bowls and bats a bit… good, just what we need!
Thoiry won the toss and decided to bat, sending out Ritzema and Mohammad to face Hoyle and Richardson.
An early breakthrough saw Mohammad’s stumps felled by Hoyle with the score on 5. But then Ritzema settled into a couple of fruitful partnerships, first with Corner, then with Sakhawat that put Thoiry, most certainly, in the driving seat.
Corner was LBW to Shaban Muhammad who bowled well, generated impressive lift right from ball 1 off an efficiently short run-up. That brought in Sakhawat who might not have received public school coaching, but has a very good eye for the ball and beautifully struck 3 sixes and 2 fours on his way to a quick 36. One of the sixes smacked into the scoreboard as if to emphasise the fact that Thoiry were accelerating the run rate. His partnership with Ritzema was worth 55 and you had the feeling that the game was starting to drift away from Chantilly. more ...

Presentation at Volkswagen Group France
Posted by: Denzil on Saturday May 25, 2013 (11:24:21)
One of our aims in this project is not only to raise money for our designated associations, but to give visibiity to Aphasia, which is an illness very poorly known. Volkswagen Group France kindly allowed Denzil Homer to present the project, and he was accompanied by Janny and Aalin Morelle (and Ussel of course, who was wonderfully behaved and was also a centre of attention!), and Nick Clarke. The staff of VGF showed a great deal of interest, and there were several spontanteous donations, with pledges to come. This has helped us to arrive at 3/4 of our objective. All efforts to increase awareness of Aphasia, and to support our project, will be gratefully received.. more ...

Some brave souls took on the wind..
Posted by: Denzil on Friday May 10, 2013 (17:45:09)
Well done to those few brave souls who rode against the wind, uphill this morning. Annare tried to see if she could make a full ride without puncturing - her speciality. We're getting a lot better at changing inner tubes though! And Nick Jones is always on hand to do brake adjustments also... more ...
And the money keeps coming in...
Posted by: Denzil on Friday May 10, 2013 (15:40:16)
Thanks to our growing list of sponsors, both businesses and individuals, we have now reached a minimum of 6300€ for our 2 charitable associations. But there is plenty more going on. And while the money is hotting up, so is the training. Over the past few days, most of the team has taken advantage of the Bank Holidays to get out on their bikes. Several of us cycled both Wednesday and Thursday, to simulate getting back on bikes when we didn't really want to. Yes, the body protested for the first few kilometers, but we felt surprisingly good at the end. Now if we can only arrange for the wind to be behind us...Watch this site over the next few days, we might even have a few pictures to share with you.
Am I still dreaming ? CCC vs British Embassy
Posted by: webmaster on Friday May 10, 2013 (10:42:28)
Upon arrival at the Apremont ground on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon, there was an air of expectation amongst the CCC players. They were coming up against the British Embassy, where wins have been historically as hard to achieve as finding a global sporting trophy with the word ‘England’ engraved on it. But the 2013 version of Chantilly Cricket Club already had two wins under its belt after just the first weekend. Could they do the unthinkable and win for two successive weekends? Would people be able to use the word ‘consistent’ to describe this team? Read on to find out…
Rob almost won the toss, and Chantilly were sent into the field for what would be the hottest part of the day. Another new opening bowling combination for the season of Richardson and Regan started well, putting the Embassy under early pressure. Cries of ‘Eddy who?’ could be heard from somewhere down near cow-corner, as Richardson broke through early with a couple of unplayable deliveries, removing the middle pin twice in his first two overs. Regan kept things tight from the other end, ensuring that the Embassy stayed in first gear for the early part of the game. Regan did eventually bowl a lose delivery, which was hit straight into the waiting hands of Nick Sainsbury. By the time the first bowling change was made, the Embassy already had three men back in the pavilion (sitting in their cars) and they were clinging to the underside of three runs per over. more ...

CCC vs Saint Brice
Posted by: webmaster on Friday May 10, 2013 (10:34:12)
St Brice CC has been in a state of shock since last year’s encounter when Chantilly won the Nilesh Memorial Trophy. On that famed day, after the game, their bewilderment was clear – how could this bunch of part-timers win against a club that plays in the Super League?
Well here we were, one year later, for our annual late afternoon T20 local derby. The Chantilly side was lacking the punch of the Clarkes in their team and were also somewhat sore after the tri-club competition the day before. For one or two members, a late, intoxicating evening at the Pretsells didn't help either!
Welcome to the club Karim Valimohamed who, after this his first game, used a pretext of having to work in the US as a reason for not being available for the next few months (“We don’t always play like that, Karim”… “Come back…”).
St Brice won the toss, electing to bat first primarily because it was getting late and they hadn't all turned up yet. more ...
