Some brave souls took on the wind..
Posted by: Denzil on Friday May 10, 2013 (17:45:09)
Well done to those few brave souls who rode against the wind, uphill this morning. Annare tried to see if she could make a full ride without puncturing - her speciality. We're getting a lot better at changing inner tubes though! And Nick Jones is always on hand to do brake adjustments also... more ...
And the money keeps coming in...

Thanks to our growing list of sponsors, both businesses and individuals, we have now reached a minimum of 6300€ for our 2 charitable associations. But there is plenty more going on. And while the money is hotting up, so is the training. Over the past few days, most of the team has taken advantage of the Bank Holidays to get out on their bikes. Several of us cycled both Wednesday and Thursday, to simulate getting back on bikes when we didn't really want to. Yes, the body protested for the first few kilometers, but we felt surprisingly good at the end. Now if we can only arrange for the wind to be behind us...Watch this site over the next few days, we might even have a few pictures to share with you.
Change is inevitable, life happens! But don't let the tsunami take you unaware.

The Groove is very proud to announce that Dr. Judith Thomas, a woman of huge experience and sense of humor, author of "From Collar to Cleavage" , will be honouring us with her presence in Chantilly. Delving deep into her own personal physical, spiritual and emotional journeys which span many continents and transitions she will challenge us to learn to process our own personal joys and difficulties and guide us on how to come out ahead and stronger than ever.
Please join us, and our special guest Judith on Tuesday, May 28th, to discuss some of the tools we can employ to better manage the major changes in our lives. more ...

Am I still dreaming ? CCC vs British Embassy
Posted by: webmaster on Friday May 10, 2013 (10:42:28)
Upon arrival at the Apremont ground on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon, there was an air of expectation amongst the CCC players. They were coming up against the British Embassy, where wins have been historically as hard to achieve as finding a global sporting trophy with the word ‘England’ engraved on it. But the 2013 version of Chantilly Cricket Club already had two wins under its belt after just the first weekend. Could they do the unthinkable and win for two successive weekends? Would people be able to use the word ‘consistent’ to describe this team? Read on to find out…
Rob almost won the toss, and Chantilly were sent into the field for what would be the hottest part of the day. Another new opening bowling combination for the season of Richardson and Regan started well, putting the Embassy under early pressure. Cries of ‘Eddy who?’ could be heard from somewhere down near cow-corner, as Richardson broke through early with a couple of unplayable deliveries, removing the middle pin twice in his first two overs. Regan kept things tight from the other end, ensuring that the Embassy stayed in first gear for the early part of the game. Regan did eventually bowl a lose delivery, which was hit straight into the waiting hands of Nick Sainsbury. By the time the first bowling change was made, the Embassy already had three men back in the pavilion (sitting in their cars) and they were clinging to the underside of three runs per over. more ...

CCC vs Saint Brice
Posted by: webmaster on Friday May 10, 2013 (10:34:12)
St Brice CC has been in a state of shock since last year’s encounter when Chantilly won the Nilesh Memorial Trophy. On that famed day, after the game, their bewilderment was clear – how could this bunch of part-timers win against a club that plays in the Super League?
Well here we were, one year later, for our annual late afternoon T20 local derby. The Chantilly side was lacking the punch of the Clarkes in their team and were also somewhat sore after the tri-club competition the day before. For one or two members, a late, intoxicating evening at the Pretsells didn't help either!
Welcome to the club Karim Valimohamed who, after this his first game, used a pretext of having to work in the US as a reason for not being available for the next few months (“We don’t always play like that, Karim”… “Come back…”).
St Brice won the toss, electing to bat first primarily because it was getting late and they hadn't all turned up yet. more ...

We are the champions!

Was I dreaming? Did someone spike my coffee with hallucinogens? Did it really happen?
A win for Chantilly Cricket Club can be as rare as a dry day in London. But two wins in one day, and half of the Chantilly players involved in a third win for another team, could be regarded in some circles as taking the piss….
The excitement in the morning air could be felt as far away as Polo Ground #3. The weather was far better than most of us had expected. We were all feeling fresh after a cold, grey winter of cricketing hibernation. A new season and the Chantilly Big Bash Twenty20 Tournament that had been postponed back in October 2012 were finally upon us. It was time to get it on like Donkey Kong!
The first match of the day was CCC vs Mellis. Our plan of getting the opposition drunk the night before was thwarted by the fact that their touring van couldn’t go faster than 62.7miles an hour. Hence, they arrived in town late and stood us up for drinks. That left us with Plan B: outplay them on the cricket field. more ...

The thermometer's rising, thanks to our sponsors..
Posted by: Denzil on Wednesday May 01, 2013 (14:09:36)
Fooled by the title? You're looking outside and asking yourself "where is the guy writing this - certainly not here"? Well for the moment we're not concerned by the outside thermometer, only the one measuring our donations. Sorry folks, due to technical issues we haven't got the thermometer on the site working,
but I can tell you that we have now raised at least 6000€ once we've taken our costs out
On the picture you will find all of our very generous sponsors, and we're not finished yet. There are some who have definitely donated, but from whom we need their logos, and there are others from whom we anticipate donations within the next few days. Once we get them, we'll be sure to update the chart. Keep the money rolling in : everything we receive from now will go directly to our 2 charitable associations, GAP and FondationARC.
